Sexual orientation can be a confusing topic!

What are Homosexual, Heterosexual and Bisexual? Most of the time I have seen people getting confused on these topics. These are all related to human feelings and sexual orientation towards each other. Don't you think we need more research to understand human behavior and their feelings? This post will help most of us to understand more about them, their behavior and their feelings.

Let’s start with the basic understanding of these terms
Heterosexual: -
having sexual and romantic attraction primarily or exclusively to members of the other sex.
Homosexual: - having sexual and romantic attraction primarily or exclusively to members of one’s own sex.
Bisexual: - having a significant degree of sexual and romantic attraction to both men and women.

As we all know that most of the world’s population is heterosexual, but do you know that around 5% to 10% of world population is homosexual and bisexual. There are very few people who came out openly as homosexual, In most of the cases people don’t want to declare them-self as homosexual as they don’t want to face the discrimination form rest of the world.

Sexual Orientation is the main reason for being called heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual, Sexual Orientation is commonly discussed as a characteristic of the individual, and it always defined in relation terms and involves relationships with other individuals. A person can be identified as heterosexual or homosexual according to its behavior while performing sexual acts and romantic talks.

According to the biological sex of the individuals, while performing sexual acts an individual involvement relative to each other decides weather a person is homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual.

In-spite of having a male or female organs, there are people who like to act in a different way then usual, it is by acting or desiring to act. If a male person have feelings of desire to act while performing sexual acts then he will get more attracted towards males, and this act makes him homosexual. In the same way if a woman have feelings for performing the act she will get attracted towards females.

Now one thing is for sure that these acts are not normal and against human behavior and against biological nature. If we want to see our world growing generation after generation we need people who are heterosexual not homosexual. Although Research and clinical literature demonstrate that same-sex sexual and romantic attractions, feelings, and behaviors are normal and positive variations of human sexuality.

In 1977, world Health organization ICD-9 listed homosexuality as a mental illness; it was removed from the ICD-10, endorsed by the Forty-third World Health Assembly on May 17, 1990.Like the DSM-II, the ICD-10 added ego-dystonic sexual orientation to the list, which refers to people who want to change their gender identities or sexual orientation because of a psychological or behavioral disorder.

So one thing is clear from above statement that homosexuality is a psychological disorder, and if its a disorder then why not we accept it, we need more research and intense thoughts on this issue, we must work on some treatments for these people.

These people are as normal as we are, we can not discriminate them because of their one behavior. In addition to their sexual behavior, their might be other reasons why these people get attracted toward their own kind. Apart from physical affection between partners there are things like sharing same goals and values, mutual support which might be the reason for liking each other.

My motive behind writing this post is to explore more about different sexuality in human beings, to understand why these people have different feeling than us, are they having any disorder and how can we create awareness among us to accept these people as one among us. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. I hope you like this post and would like to hear your thoughts on this topic.
